The Cuisinart CBT 2000 Hurricane Pro earned top marks for its versatility, smoothie-specific features, and durable design, making it one of the best blenders for green smoothies on the market. While it may not operate using as many watts as some of the other models I’ve tested out, you won’t notice a lack of power. In fact, you’ll be impressed with its smooth operation, ease of use, and overall quality.

Our Verdict: The latest model by Cuisinart, the Hurricane, offers 1200-watts of power and comes with some great features including two dedicated preset programs for green and fruit smoothies. This is a huge selling point for the daily smoothie drinker, and it’s a great feature to have for those who don’t have much smoothie making experience. The memory function, which allows you to save and store blending times, will also come in handy, allowing you to choose past blending settings for faster use. The all metal drive, high wattage, and 3.5 HPs, make this one of the most powerful models in Cuisinart’s lineup, so it makes sense that it’s also one of their best-sellers. While it may not come with as many blending programs as competing models, it still has plenty to offer anyone who’s searching for a model that can handle tough leafy greens, root veggies, softer fruits, and daily use.

Overview and Features

If you’re looking for a model that can handle making the best green smoothies for weight loss, then your search is over. This model comes with dedicated smoothie programs that are specifically designed to handle making green smoothies. Green smoothies can be a challenge since the leafy veggies tend to stick in the blades, causing them to freeze, requiring you to repeatedly stop the blending process to remove the trapped leaves. But not with the Hurricane.

This is a blender that packs plenty of power in a design that’s compact and can fit easily on your counter. While many of the leading models of blenders tend to take up a lot of counter space, the Hurricane will fit nicely on your counter, even if you have low hung cabinets. This model is simple to use and comes with preset controls that allow you to select a program based on what you’re blending. The blending programs, variable speed controls, and other features, make this model very beginner friendly.

Cuisinart CBT-2000 Hurricane Pro Blender

Our Rating: (4/5)

  • Variable speed control
  • Blending presets
  • Memory function
  • Large capacity pitcher
  • Beginner friendly
  • All metal drive

Variable Speed Control

This model comes with three speed control options including low, medium and high. It also has a Turbo Boost button that will add an extra dose of power for those tougher fruits and veggies.

Pitcher

The included pitcher is made out of a thick plastic that’s BPA-free. The pitcher is extra-large, measuring in at sixty-four ounces, which will allow you to serve up to nine people per batch. The large, soft grip handle will make the pitcher easier to hold and pour, even when the pitcher is full.

Memory Function

The memory function allows users to adjust the preset time, for shorter or longer blending periods, and saves it using the memory feature, for future use.

Presets

The blender offers a few blending presets including ice crush, and two smoothie settings: fruit or green. If you’ve recently learned about the benefits of drinking smoothies, then this dedicated blending program will be a big deal. Often, making green smoothies can be a challenge, since many blenders are simply not tough enough to blend up thick leafy greens. Fortunately, you can whip up the perfect green smoothie with the use of the smoothie blending program, simply add the ingredients, place the lid on top, locking it in place, and hit the green smoothie button. The fruit smoothie blending program ensures your smoothie comes out creamy and smooth, not grainy or with chunks of fruit left behind, like what you’ll get with some low-powered blenders. The ice crush program is perfect for making an icy drink, such as an iced coffee, or your favorite fruit blend.

Power

This model offers 3.5 HPs of peak power operating at 1200-watts, which is the highest in its class. This type of power is what allows the blender to easily tear into any type of fruit or veggie.

Blend Logix Smart Technology

The blender utilizes smart blending technology. This feature senses a load, adjusting the speed automatically for uninterrupted, even blending. This means you won’t have to constantly stop during the blending process to move food around or to remove food build up from around the blades.

LCD Display

The large LCD display features a countdown timer, so you can time how long your food blends, ensuring it’s blended to perfection.

Blades

The blade assembly consists of a six-prong blade design that’s made out of heavy-duty stainless steel material. The tough blade design will allow you to create anything from homemade ice cream and dips, to hummus and salsa.

Warranty

The manufacturer offers a ten-year limited warranty on the motor and a three-year warranty on all other parts.

Drive

If you want to know more about a blender’s quality, then take a closer look at the type of drive it has.

This model features an all metal ball bearing drive. Many competing models come equipped with plastic drives, which don’t last nearly as long. Considering it comes with the all metal drive, it’s no surprise that the manufacturer offers such a lengthy warranty.

Maintenance

The blender doesn’t come with a self-cleaning mode, so you’ll have to wash the pitcher and other components by hand, or you can toss the pitcher, blade and lid in the dishwasher. Since you cannot submerge the base in water, you can use a damp rag and wipe it down after each use. Overall, this is a very low maintenance model. However, if you’re washing the pitcher by hand, then you’ll need to be very careful when you’re washing the extra-sharp blades.

Performance

When you’re in a rush, the memory feature can be a true lifesaver and one that can save you plenty of time in the kitchen. This function allows you to store past blending processes so you can hit the memory button and the ingredients in the pitcher will automatically be blended to perfection, based on the length and settings you used to blend it in the past. The presets are also a great addition, especially if you’ve had trouble blending your smoothies properly in the past. As I mentioned earlier, most models tend to struggle when it comes to blending softer fruits or leafy greens, but this model is able to handle a high volume of greens and soft fruits, easily and efficiently. The all metal drive is one of the biggest selling points, since it will allow the blender’s motor to last year after year, unlike competing models that are equipped with drives that are made out of plastic. The large pitcher size is also a plus, as is the soft grip, which makes it much easier for the user to handle and pour a full pitcher. This is a low-maintenance model, and while it doesn’t come with a self-cleaning mode, the fact that the blade, lid, and pitcher are all dishwasher safe will make cleanup a cinch.

Cuisinart CBT-2000 Hurricane Pro Blender Versus Ninja Professional Blender

Both of these models were neck and neck in many areas, although I found that only one offered the type of versatility that the smoothie lover is looking for.

The competing model, the Ninja Professional blender, offers 1000-watts of power, up against the Cuisinart’s 1200-watts. The Pro features four manual speed options, with no preset programs, which can be a drawback for some buyers. But it does come with a larger pitcher, measuring in at seventy-two ounces, compared to the CBT’s sixty-four. This model by Cuisinart is clearly the better choice for the beginner or those who want a more hands-off approach during the blending process. It’s also a better choice for anyone who is specifically buying a blender to use to make their favorite smoothie. While the competing model does offer comparable power and a larger pitcher, this model by Cuisinart is the clear winner.

Conclusion and Rating

Our Rating: (4/5)

The CBT 2000 by Cuisinart features a 3.5 HP motor, 1200 watts of power and an all metal drive, resulting in a model that’s designed to last year after year, even with heavy-duty use. The included blending programs will allow you to turn out perfectly blended smoothies, while the memory function will save you time by storing past blending times, so future use is fast and simple. Bottom line, this is a large, powerful blender that’s designed for daily use and made specifically for the smoothie lover who wants to save a little time in the kitchen. I gave this model a rating of four and a half stars out of five.
